Art and Environment Committee

The Art and Environment Committee coordinate the decoration of the church for the liturgical seasons, including Christmas and Easter. It also decorates for events from September through June (dates and times scheduled as needed). Time involved is six to eight hours, or one to two days a year.

Eucharistic Exposition

Exposition is an opportunity for individuals to spend personal time in silence and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.  One hour of your presence is requested.  For information or to commit to a particular time, call Mary Quinlan.

Exposition is held every Friday from 9:00 a.m. until Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the Chapel.

Open to high school teens, younger if accompanied by parent/guardian.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers assist the presider and serve the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and also assist in prayer services such as the distribution of ashes and the blessing of throats.Training is necessary. For more information call Deacon Mike.

Junior Altar Servers

Junior Altar Servers are 4th grade through high school students from St. Charles and CCD who assist the Mass Presider as book bearers, candle bearers, censer bearers, and assistance at the presentation of gifts.

Readers

Readers proclaim the Word of God, welcome, and lead parishioners in the petitions at Mass and special occasion Masses.  Training is a must.

Rosary Leaders

One of the most powerful prayers of Marian devotion, the Rosary is prayed Saturday at     3:30 p.m., before the 4:00 p.m. Mass.  The ministry leader guides the cadence of this beautifully combined form of prayer and meditation. Contact Irene Hite for more information.

Sacristans

Sacristans prepare the worship space for Mass by assuring that all necessary items are in place.  They are attentive to the vessels used in communion, the number of hosts available for communion, etc.  You must be willing to arrive about 20 minutes before the beginning of Mass to accomplish these tasks.  Open to those 16 years and older who have been confirmed.  Contact Deacon Mike.

Borromeo Contemporary Music Ensemble

Ablaze

St. Catherine of Siena urged, “Be who you were created to be and you will set the whole world on fire.”  Through social, spiritual, educational, and service experiences, Ablaze aims at kindling the spark that will enable you to flourish as the human being you were created to be, living life to the full.  High-school-aged teens meet weekly on Sundays to have fun and grow together, as well as challenge and support one another, while entering more deeply into relationship with our Lord. Celebrate Team

The Celebrate Team is composed of high school seniors aided by adult advisors and meets weekly from September - March.  The Celebrate Program incorporates Scripture, faith-sharing, personal witness, and sacramental formation while inviting seniors into a  deeper relationship with the Lord as part of a close-knit Christian community.  The program culminates with a weekend retreat, led by the senior team, for juniors in March.

JaM Helper

During the 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. Masses, extra hands and overall helpers are needed for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word. This is a wonderful opportunity to be an example to the younger children and in so doing, help lead them to Christ! Open to 7th grade and older. The time commitment is once or twice a month.

Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council is a consultative body working closely with the Pastor to effect and implement decisions and recommendations of parish ministerial policy and activities. Any high school teen member of the parish is eligible for an at-large position on the council by volunteering and attending a discernment evening. Terry Sell, Chairperson.

Pastoral Council meetings are held every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Mark Room from August through May.

Christian Formation Commission

The Christian Formation Commission works to define the educational mission of St. Charles Parish, scheduling and conducting informative lectures and programs especially for adults.

Christian Formation Commission meets every second Tuesday of the month, at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Luke Room from September through May.

Christian Formation monitors ministries such as, CCD, Youth Ministry, Lenten Mission, and Advent and Lent Breakfast Series.

Evangelization Commission

The Evangelization Commission calls all parishioners to share the gift of their faith within the environments of home, work, church, and community.  The commission organizes the community meals.

The Evangelization Commission meets every third Monday every other month at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Luke Room from September through May.

Ministries under the Evangelization Commission include, Community Meal, Small Christian Communities, and Welcoming New Parishioners.

Parish Life Commission Promotes holy, wholesome, Christian family life in the parish and community. Organizes and participates in the Coat drive, Veteran’s Recognition Mass and Brunch, Kid’s sharing Tree, Anniversary Mass and Brunch, Soles4Souls, and the Seder Meal.

Cleaning Ministry

The Cleaning Ministry is comprised of dedicated volunteers who are committed to being good stewards of our facilities as they make sure our church is ready for the next activity by vacuuming, scrubbing, washing, dusting, etc. Supplies and equipment are provided to clean each area in an effort to keep our church looking its best. Graceful Hands

Seder Meal

Each year, members of youth ministry and other interested teens assist our Parish Life Commission and Men’s Club in providing the Seder Meal (a re-presentation of the Jewish Passover Meal with its connections to our weekly celebration of the Eucharist) on Holy Thursday.  Volunteers help set the tables, seat guests, serve the meal, and clear the  tables afterward.  If interested in assisting with the Seder Meal please contact Natalie Wardle.
